When we have shipping a Mac in the Low Vision mode we have increase the size of the Dock Icons and the Desktop Icons and increased the size of the mouse cursor and made it Yellow and Black.
The other accesibly feature that we turn on before shipping is Hover Text.
Apple’s Hover Text is an accessibility feature that displays a large, high-resolution, customizable window of text or screen items when you hover a pointer (trackpad, mouse, or Apple Pencil) over them. It is available on Mac (System Settings > Accessibility > Hover Text), iPhone, and iPad (Settings > Accessibility > Hover Text).
Key Features and Customization:
-
- Activation: Activated by holding a specific modifier key (e.g., Command) or by using "Activation Lock" (pressing the key three times).
- Customization: Users can adjust font, size, text color, background color, and border color
- Platforms: Works across macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Apple TV (tvOS).
- Hover Typing: A related feature (found in Accessibility > Keyboards) that shows a zoomed-in, high-resolution box of the text as you type.
How to Enable Hover Text:
- Mac: Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Hover Text.
- iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Hover Text.
- Apple TV: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Hover Text.
To customize Hover Text, click
, then set any of the following options:
- Activation modifier: Choose the modifier key to press that turns on Hover Text.
- Triple-press modifier to set activation lock: Keep Hover Text active for a period of time—for example, when filling out a form—without needing to press the modifier key every time you move the pointer over text. Quickly press the modifier key three times to turn the activation lock on or off. This is how I pre-set hover text on your Low Vision Mac.
- Text size and Text font: Choose the size and font for text shown in the Hover Text window. By default, the font is the same as your system font.
- Colors: Choose the color for text in the Hover Text window or the colors for the window itself. You can also choose a color to outline the text or item you’re hovering over.
How to Enable Hover Typing (iOS 18+):
- Navigate to Settings > Accessibility.
- Select Keyboards or "Keyboard and Typing".
- Toggle "Hover Typing" on.

Change your Mac display’s resolution )
MAC OS Monterey (12)
Your display’s resolution determines the size of text and objects on your screen. By default, your Mac automatically uses the best resolution for the display. While it’s best to use the default resolution, you can manually set the resolution to make text and objects appear larger on your screen, or adjust it to make text and objects appear smaller so you have more space on your screen.
Set the resolution for your primary display
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu
> System Preferences, then click Displays
. - Select Scaled, then select one of the options. The smaller the numbers the bigger everything will appear on the screen.
Set the resolution for a connected display
If you have more than one display, additional resolution options are available after the display is connected.
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu
> System Preferences, click Displays
, then click Display Settings. - Select your display in the sidebar, then do one of the following, depending on your display:
- Click the Scaled pop-up menu, then choose a scaled resolution for the display.
- Choose Scaled, then select the resolution you want to use.
- Click Done.
